Pin Up Girl

I love pin-up girls. I don’t remember how and when I start to like them. Maybe a few years back, when I met my best friend, Pupu Paula. We shared the same interest in vintage stuff. I can say that I’m partly influenced by her. I like to browse vintage dresses and then I stumble upon this pin-up photographs. They look sexy, seductive, flirty and playful. And I want to look like that. Looking sexy and flirty even when they are cooking, washing dishes, vacuuming, chit chatting on the telephone, or doing any activities, they always look picture perfect. And I began to learn how to do vintage hair (big thanks to Pupu who teach me all that) and wear vintage looking dresses. I don’t know if I can say that pin-up is my style because I rarely dress like that, only on weekends or special occasions maybe. But some of my friends always think of me when they saw any vintage poster or movies, so I guess that says a lot.

But enough about me. Today I want to share a little about style and more about my job as stylist in AXIOO. It is not an easy job. It may look glamorous and cool on the outside but the truth is, it’s not that glamorous. You need patience and creativity, you have to be bubbly yet firm, you have to be tough, able to stand under the burning sun, running around to do the setting, deal with dust and dirt and bugs sometimes. Mostly for outdoor photo sessions though. It’s a tiring job but fun at the same time. I get to meet new people every day, hear their stories, brainstorm for ideas, and decide the wardrobe and props. I try my best to make their wishes come true and for a bonus, some of them became good friends.

At the end of the day, when you hear a simple and sincere word “thank you” from your client, it washed away all the tiredness. What can I say, I love my job. 🙂

Love,

Meli
