Can’t help but feeling nervous?
The Pre-Wedding of Michael & Jane by Dre

Have you ever felt nervous when you’re about to make a move? Logic tells you great things about it, but you can’t help but feeling scared.

Me too.

A while ago, my team called me, “Dre, our winner from our competition picked you to shoot their mini session.”

“Awesome,” I smiled, imagining a lot of new countries I wish to shoot at, “Where will we shoot?”

“Our studio.”

I’m flattered the couple trust me to shoot them in studio. I have a few many studio portfolio, but you may find most of my portfolio shooting weddings and destination pre-weddings.

I was nervous and thrilled at the same time.

I met the couple, Michael and Jane, for the first time in our concept meeting. I thought of something unique on the spot and directly proposed to them a concept: superheroes couple in daily life.

I was happy to see them excited about the concept. I was even happier to see them laughing, enjoying the photoshoot, and loving the result.

It’s quite a risk, but I felt really good to step out of my comfort zone.

Last month, I did it again. This time, I did something other that wedding & pre-wedding. It’s completely out of character. Many people have encouraged me to promote this other part of my artwork but i have always been putting it in the back burner. Only after much prodding from my resilient wife, I finally submitted this photo to a photography contest by NatGeo.

Now, let me ask again:

Have you ever felt nervous when you’re about to make a move? Logic tells you great things about it, but you can’t help but feeling scared.

Good, that means you’re stepping out of your comfort zone and jumping into your growth zone. You’re in the right direction.

Cheers,

Dre
