Shau Fun first caught Kent’s eye in December 2006 ago when she was interning at his office. He was the career driven executive who often worked until 3 am on a daily basis, and she was the attractive one who drove him to coming up with a few silly excuses just so he can spend some time with her. He finally worked up the courage to ask her out at the end of her internship period, where he took her for a dinner and a movie. He took her to see “Blood Diamond”. Although the movie still remains to be one of the favorites until today, Kent still remembers feeling bad for taking her to see something with such violence on their first date while he thought that diamonds were a girl’s best friend and a show about it might actually be romantic (insert giggle here).

A typical day for Kent and Shau Fun would be spent in the city, going for brunch or coffee just to chill out and going to the movies. Shau Fun would request daily massages from Kent to ease her from an intensive day at work and in return she would pamper him with a good head and back massage to release his immense stress and pressure. He’s her stress ball to vent frustrations on, and she’s his go-to girl for the latest news on what’s going on the internet world today and his enthusiastic companion when it comes to watching sports. He’s the sports freak who likes extreme activities like go-karts and fast cars, and she’s the elegant romantic who loves retail therapy and TV drama. And together, they are one of the coolest couples I have ever met.

Their prewedding portraits were shot in Melbourne. The shoot at the graffiti wall is one of my favorites. I think the artistic elements of it just pop out to reflect on the couple’s cool personalities. We spent the day sprawling across the city, exploring the eclectic precincts for controversial street arts and cozy little cafes downtown and places that accentuates their relationship personalities. While there are countless backdrops, I believe that it was the chemistry between these two people so much in love with each other is what makes every shot so heart-warming.

Kent and Shau Fun, you guys are great! I hope you spend the rest of your lives just adoring each other. And Kent, I challenge you to top off that proposal story! (By the way, he proposed in Paris. He got down on one knee and popped the one million dollar question with the Eiffel Tower in the background. And this was after a ride around the city on a horse-drawn carriage. Wow, fireworks are playing in my head right now!)

Cheers,
Ivan
