I’ve always been challenged to shoot weddings, challenged to capture every detail and every emotion on the couple’s most beautiful day. I find that the best way to capture a great wedding is through strong team work. Usually shooting the essences is done by the first and second photographer, with the help of a few other photographers. So before we set out to do weddings, we hold a briefing where we discuss the rundown of the event and coordinate the roles of everyone on the team. But the thing about weddings, there’s always a lot of the unexpected to be expected, which is so exciting for me. Here is where the chemistry between the first and second photographer is tested. When one uses a wide lens, the other will go for a more detailed shot of emotions, among other things. And that chemistry can be seen in the beautiful captures at the end of the day.
But enough talk about photography, and moving on the beautiful couple. Anthony and I go way back actually, back to the days of online gaming. He was in Singapore, I was in Shanghai and we played quite a few games online. I didn’t even know he was back in Jakarta for good until that first meeting we had where I was photographer and he and his soon-to-be bride were client. Their wedding was pretty relaxed. They carried out the traditions and ceremonies, and then let themselves loose at the after party. Between the shots and the bottles, I recall them telling me to stop drinking thinking I was drunk. Ha ha ha. It was a great night.
Here are some pictures we shot of the couple and their exciting wedding day.
Enjoy!
